Welcome back to our Get to Know the Blogger series. I have been speaking with Becca about her blog Becc4.
Thanks for taking part! Can you tell us a little bit about what Becc4 is all about?
So, my name is Becca and my blog is essentially just an extension of my life. I’m currently a student, so I often post about that and I spent my summer travelling Asia, so I also post about that too. I love fashion and beauty so often post hauls/outfit posts. I also write a post each week called ‘Sick Tings’ which is essentially a weekly vlog in blog post format. It’s my readers’ way of seeing what I get up to and an insight into student life.
How long have you been blogging for, and what made you get into blogging to start with?
I have only been writing on Becc4 since January but I had another blog previously to this for a number of years. I got into this whole blogging thing after being inspired by people like Zoella and Milkbubbletea, and thought I’d give it a go myself, and here we are.
Do you have any particular topics you like writing about most?
I loooove writing about travel! I currently post one travel post a week (every Wednesday if you’re interested) and am currently working through writing one post for each stop of my two month trip in Asia. I’m just finishing up writing about Vietnam, and still have Bali, Thailand, Malaysia and Laos to go!
Favourite Social Media Platform?
My favourite platform by far has got to be Instagram. I’ve become a bit obsessed with having a theme of late and so have been working really hard recently to make my grid look cohesive. I’ve also recently launched my own hashtag – #ahomelychristmas – for alllll things Christmas so I’d love it if you could check it out!
What are your favourite things about Blogging?
I love the people I’ve met and the experiences I’ve been given. I’ve made some really good, genuine, friends through blogging – one of which is coming round my house in a few weeks for a sleepover… If it wasn’t for blogging we’d never have met as she lives miles away and our paths would never have crossed! I’ve also been lucky enough to attend lots of different events from local ones to London ones – again, something I wouldn’t have been able to do if it wasn’t for blogging.
Are there any aspects of the industry you don’t enjoy as much?
I appreciate that not everyone can be the best, but I really don’t like the competitive side of the community. The constant who’s got the best PR gift or the most sponsored posts in a month, or who has the most followers. It gets tiresome and definitely zaps the fun out of it!
What has been your highlight so far?
Definitely making the friends that I’ve been fortunate to meet. We talk most days about literally everything and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Can you share a post with us that you are most proud of?
My post on increasing your domain authority is my most popular post ever, and to this day I still have people messaging me to thank me for writing it! You can read it here.
Out of the events you have attended with the Bournemouth Bloggers so far, which has stood out for you and why?
By far the photography one with Kaye Ford. It was super informative, really good fun and I came away feeling really inspired.
If you could work with any one brand on a collaboration, who would it be and why?
Working with Primark would be a dream. Being a student, I don’t have tonnes of money to throw at Topshop and so often spend many an hour wandering around Primark. Collaborating with them, and perhaps even designing a few pieces of my own, is the absolute dream.
What is your favourite thing about living in Bournemouth?
The beach, there’s no doubt about it! I also really love Halo – it’s one of my favourite clubs ever.
Do you have any advice for thinking about writing a blog, or just starting out blogging?
Just give it a go – it’s really good fun and I’d recommend it to anyone. There are no rights or wrongs, just get stuck in.
Who are your favourite bloggers and/or YouTubers?
I love Hannah Gale’s blog, her Instagram, everything. That gal is one talented lady. I also love Liv Purvis – her style is flawless!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Graduated, moved out and loving my career. I love university but I also can’t wait to see what’s ahead of me in the big wide world.
